Advising » Advising

Academic Advising is a process of information exchange that empowers students to realize their maximum educational potential. The goal of academic advising is for students to gain a clearer understanding of themselves as well as be able to accomplish their goals with wise academic choices.
When Do I Need To Have Academic Advising?
There will be certain appointments scheduled by the Academic Advising department which will engage the student with their advisor.  All 6th and 7th grade students will meet with their advisors in the fall to plan for the upcoming year.  All 8th grade students will meet with their advisor once in the fall and again in the spring to plan for their upcoming year at the CECFC high school.  All students are encouraged to meet with academic advisors throughout their academic careers.
Advisor Role
Advisors understand and respect student’s uniqueness, educational goals and inform students about the purpose and potential of higher education. Students will be assisted in developing academic/career plans consistent with their goals, interests, and abilities. Students will be referred to additional resources when necessary or appropriate.
